Takayasu MOCHIZUKI (Ph.D, University of Hyogo)

    He received the Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1973,. From 1973 to 1975, he was a guest scientist at the Hahn-Meitner-Institut, Berlin, Germany. In 1975, he joined the Institute of Laser Engineering, Osaka University and became a Professor in 1984. He studied laser fusion, especially x-ray-drive implosion of the fusion pellet. In 1987, he joined HOYA Corporation, Tokyo, where he worked as General Manager of Optronics Division and a member of the Board of Directors to develop high-power solid-state slab laser systems for material processing and introduce micro-fabrication laser systems including a laser repair system for LCD panels into the laser market. In1994, he left HOYA and became a Professor at the Laboratory of Advanced Science and Technology for Industry, University of Hyogo, and worked as a director from 2003 to 2008. Since 2010 he has been a Professor Emeritus of University of Hyogo.
